Kiban Religion

The religion of Kiban is similar to that of the rest of Kaldor. The Laranian and Peonian churches have tax-exempt status on their temples, which lie just inside the town wall. It is rumored that they have made contributions towards the cost of the wall directly to the earl.
The earl is close friends with Edine Kynn, the Laranian Serekela (archbishop) of Kaldor and a cousin of the Rekela (bishop) of Kephrus.
Worship of Agrik, Morgath, or Naveh is punishable by death. Other religions are discouraged.
From the 9th to the 12th of Peonu, the town comes alive with the annual Feast of Yselde, which celebrates the Peonian “mistress of honorable love". Doorways and windows are festooned with woven wreaths of spring flowers and bundles of wheat. It is great fun for the peasants, with much dancing and matchmaking. The festival includes mock combat and jousting by men mounted on the backs of other men and armed with sheaves of wheat.
The earl sponsors a longbow contest for invited yeomen where the grand prize is a purse of 120d and an Emelrene longbow. The storytelling contest draws some of the best storytellers in the kingdom. On the night of the 11th, the earl hosts a grand feast and a bonfire for his serfs.
