Carandaen
Carandaen, Lord of Hiletas
Shield: Quarterly argent and azure, a boar's head erased (northern) proper
Motto: Ferocious unto death.
Registry: Holy Oak, 567
Holdings: Hiletas (Lord Alren Carandaen), Rildrell (Reeve Denren of Ylgren)
Liege: Clan Ubael (Uldien)
Vassals: None
Greatclans related to: None
Notes: Clan Caradaen came into their own after the Baronial Revolt, when they were granted Hiletas manor as a hereditary fief for their loyal service in battle.
The former lords of Hiletas, clan Terven, were publically executed in Ubael Common for high treason when it was discovered that they were secretly passing on information to the enemy ( Clan Curo of Gardiren) during the Revolt.
Lord Alren, 39, has inherited his ancestors' skill in battle, but not their volatile temper. He is a very serious, devout Laranian and vocal venerator of Saint Uldine, and also has a strong dislike of alcohol. For this reason, he has forbidden the local innkeeper to sell any alcoholic beverage stronger than small beer. The local inn, the “Chyle maiden” has suffered accordingly, even though it lies directly on the Getha-Uldien road.
Innkeeper Zerthen of Krenn is almost at wits' end, but realises that appealing to the Mangai would be fruitless, since the Uldien council would almost certainly decide against his plea in order to protect the increased business of the “Bear and Staff” in Uldien. Over 150 years of local innkeeping tradition are bound to be lost, unless lord Alren changes his mind.
