The Great Ages of Halcyon

Many people have asked me when I was born. "Oh great traveller, you seem so wise and so ancient! And yet your body is so limber and toned!" I never do say of what Age I hail from, for they would probably accuse me of some kind of black magic and heresy. Which isn't entirely untrue.

Introduction

When discussing time in Halcyon, it is important to note that the timeline is divided up into three great Ages. The First, Second, and Third Age. The First Age stretches back into an indefinite amount of time, for this was the time of creation and primitive men. Society had not quite developed into the flourishing kingdoms and countries that you see today. This era runs from the 'beginning of time' until approximately 5000 BCA (Before Common Age). The Second Age is when the first real nation-states began to arise and the histories were tracked with great scholarly care. It begins in 5000 BCA and continues until year 0. Year 0 denotes the beginning of the Third Age, which is the present age. Hence why it is denoted as the Common Age or CA when writing dates.

The First Age

Early civilization and creation.

The Second Age

Time of great kingdoms and wars.

The Third Age

Present day. Age of peace.
