Tharizdun, The Chained Oblivion
The Chained Oblivion
It is only through knowledge granted by other deities that we know Tharizdun was once a benevolent, if ambitious god. None of them knew or would share exactly what drove Tharizdun to madness, but the dark, vile creature he became was supposedly unrecognizable to his former self. Through unknown means, he planted the dark seeds of what would grow into the Abyss on the far edge of existence, before he returned, twisted and hellbent on overthrowing the other gods in a frenzied attempt not to take power, but to destroy all he possibly could. He rallied the Betrayer Gods, none of which seemed to share his ambition for utter oblivion, so scholars speculate it was through lies and deceit that he convinced them to join his side. - None of which, it was deemed by the gods, absolved them of the atrocities they committed during The Calamity, in what they believed to be a bid for power. By the time the Betrayers realized their leader's true intentions, the battle was already lost for them.Vanquished
Upon his defeat, Tharizdun was bound, shackled, and imprisoned in ways only known to the gods. - What is widely agreed upon is that his dark work on the far side of creation became his prison; trapped in the deepest layer of the Abyss, which continues to grow deeper and deeper still. A testimony to the Oblivion's strength, Tharizdun's will still invades the minds of some. To them, he imposes these commandments:- Uncover, restore, and exalt forgotten shrines in his honor.
- Offer and siphon power to the Chained Oblivion until his liberation comes.
- Ruin and raze the realms to prepare for the Epoch of Ends.
