Leaps in science during the second part of the 20^th lead to the Emergence of a transhumanity.   People willing to need medication for the rest of their days Augmented themselves via drugs, bio and/or mechanical engineering for the sake of unlocking capacities beyond what had been seen in any human so far.   With them came a new era, an age of comic book heroes fighting against villains in the streets. Soon enough came the Cologne incident, where half the city was devastated in an all-out fight, leading to the formation of the Cologne Accords and the organisation SHARP, made to put rules in place to establish hero as a properly regulated work, with laws in place to protect everyone involved.   Still, even with SHARP and the Cologne Accords, after 40 years of repeated incidents and countless villain attacks, the tensions between Augmented people and Regular people are growing critical.
