Khutaro's Gaze

Situated in the Northwest islands of the continent of Valoreign sits a colony of the burgeoning Pirate Empire of Alshams Al'ard's Minotaurs. The island of Illionisi and it's port town of Thurmina (once called Illimani) serves as the greatest conquest of the so-called Stampede of the Deep, and as such is home to their greatest monument, and affront to the former rulers of this land: Khutaro's Gaze.   The massive statue towers above the entrance to the port, standing 40m tall, with flaming eyes an horns that serve as a lighthouse for vessels sailing in the night. Each foot is constructed upon a platform carved from marble and the structure itself appears to be made from solid bronze, depicting the Patron deity of the Minotaurs in a threatening pose, almost challenging their Valoreignian neighbours across the strait to strike back and reclaim what was once theirs.   Khutaro's Gaze does feature one particularly noticeable imperfection, the result of one such challenge. A direct ballista shot from a Valoreignian ship appears to have cracked the colossal Minotaur's chest, though the monument remains stable (for now).

Purpose / Function

Khutaro's Gaze serves as a lighthouse primarily, guiding vessels back to port in the night, while also functioning as a source of imperial pride for the egotistical Pirate Empire on the rise. No doubt it frustrates the Valoreignian citizens across the strait. It also, to some degree, functions as a shrine to the Wave Horn himself, and ships returning from pillaging runs are encouraged to leave offerings from their ill-gotten gains at the feet of the statue.

Alterations

A single, hideous crack was inflicted upon the statue during a failed attempt to regain Thrumani by Marines who were once stationed there (under it's previous name, Illimani).

Architecture

The statue is made of pure bronze, and stands on two separate plinths of carved marble. Magical flame wreathes the horns and eyes of the colossal monument.
