Tysenian Order

The Tysenian Order is the dominant religious organization throughout Gunaram. It's based on the writings and prayers of Tysen, who was believed to be the spiritual husband of the Mother. It was founded by Commander Tysen in 1 Blessed when the Mother spoke to him.   The Order's goal is to keep people safe as well as to preach the  Holy Tomes to each dark corner of the world and to all races.    Though, some tend to ignore or shun these teachings.

Dogmas

According to Tysen and his writings, fighting to protect your beliefs and in the name of the Mother is considered righteous acts. It's also said that prayer before battle and prayer after battle to honor those who died are righteous acts.   Enemies of the Mother are usually demons and those seeking godly power.   It is believed that when someone dies, their soul is saved by the Mother and find a place at her side in Paradise.

Tenets of Faith

According to the Tomes, there are two main points to be followed by all:
  1. As Tyren died in battle defending his faith, we must do the same and fight for Her.
  2. Magic should be utilized, not as a form of power but as a gift given by the Mother.
Until She chooses a vessel, Tysenian followers believe that the Mother watches all, keeping her children safe from any evil and taking the role as a patient observer rather than an absent goddess. They do not believe the Mother will perform miracles on their behalf, but She will shed tears for those who deserve Her sorrow.

Ethics

Prayer is something those of true faith do in everyday life. It is to keep one's soul safe as they slumber or before they believe they might die, should She will it. It's also believed to give hope when She chooses a vessel to walk on the earth again.   Meditation is also a way to connect with the Mother. It cleanses the mind of evil thoughts that lie dormant and leads to a healthier well-being.   Once a week, the faithful may flock to their local temple to participate in public sermons, prayer, feasts, and music, among other things.   For those that fight in the name of the Mother and Tysen, warriors may wield a holy symbol of some sort, preferably the symbol of the Mother, a leafless oak tree surrounded by the flames of a sun.

Worship

Offertory is part of the Order service in temples when sermons or prayers are held.   The funeral rites of the Order may involve cremation. Just as Tysen's body was burned to prevent evil from inhabiting his body as he ascended to the Mother's side, followers may do the same. The ashes will be returned to the family or will be returned to the earth as the deceased's soul returns to the Mother. It's also believed the cremation process is to ward off evil and to keep demonic possession and necromancy at bay.   Certain members, called Chanters, speak only in quotations of the Holy Tomes. Ostensibly, this is to spread the word of Tysen, the Mother, and the Order far and wide. These Chanters are usually stationed in towns where the Order has little influence.

Priesthood

The one who leads the Tysenian Order is either the Grand Matriarch or the Grand Patriarch. They oversee all matters of the Order and its followers. They stay in the holy city of Issbel in Traith.   Below the Matriarchs/Patriarchs are the Left and Right Hands. They deal with personal affairs dealing with the Matriarchs and Patriarchs. They are chosen by their higher-ups and are usually the ones chosen as the next Matriarch or Patriarch.   Below them is the Grand Pope, which resides in Camora. He deals with overseas issues and financial problems.   Below the Grand Pope are the Clerics. They are scattered throughout Gunaram and deal with local matters.   Below Clerics are Mothers and Fathers. They are also scattered throughout Gunaram with Clerics. They take orders from Clerics and higher-ups and hold sermons in local temples and exorcisms if necessary. If a Mother or Father is in charge when there is no Cleric, they are referred to as Revered Father or Revered Mother.   Below Mothers and Father are brothers and sisters, consisting of three main groups: affirmed, lay, and initiates.      Brother, which is a male initiate. The initiates take vows and receive an academic education. Those who seek to become Order Soldiers receive a martial education in addition.     Affirmed are the scholars of the Order, and they are often found in Order archives. These sages preside over libraries of books and arcane knowledge.      The lay brothers and sisters They are those who live and work in a local Order to live a life of religious contemplation, yet are not a part of the priesthood or even an initiate. The Order supposedly provides succor and safe harbor to any who seeks it. Lay brothers/sisters are those who become affirmed − i.e., they affirm their belief in the Mother, Tysen, and the Holy Tomes. They do not take vows, however. Often lay-brethren are people who have led a difficult or irreligious life and have chosen to go into seclusion, or even orphans and similar unfortunates who were raised into the Order life. The affirmed take care of the Order and are, in turn, afforded a life of quiet contemplation, no questions asked.
