Khovlaatar

Khovlaatar stands as the last remnant of The Coalition of Acoth and a common trading port between many of the other nations.

Government

Government is basically non-exsistant, as rich individuals reign over the lower classes via pure buying power, often hiring individuals to act as bodyguards and fighters, and clash with other rich individuals over petty arguments.

Industry & Trade

Khovlaatar prospers as a central hub for trade, both with the other nations of Grikane and the foreign lands of Visau. Most trade here is of relatively mundane items, but exotic or unique items often find their way here as well.

Infrastructure

The city of Khovlaatar is made up of tall towering structures made out of clay and sandstone buildings often being built on top of other buildings. In between these buildings include snaking canals that go throughout the city.   To the north end of the city at the base of the statue of Bahamut there is an elevator that would allow individuals to rise to an elevated platform that connects to either side of the river with a bridge. The bridge is supported by large statues of dragonborn whose identities have been lost in the rubble of the city.

Guilds and Factions

The city is controlled by several factions that often fight for power, but peace is generally enforced by the most powerful of these clans. The most notable clans are:
  • Clan Orbis - A clan of white ancestry currently taken residence in the den of Shanwei known for their control of vicious street gangs imposing order in the city
  • Clan Tandu - A clan of mixed metallic ancestry living in the den of Dandri with a vast array of connections to supply merchant goods
  • Clan Dakon - Several Triton folk have banded together to form Dakon, who patrol the water beneath the city and stop piranha folk from laying eggs beneath the city
  • Clan Ugar - A clan of mixed chromatic ancestry who believes in the superiority of chromatic dragons over metallic and has a significant presence in the city. They are staying in the den of Hanxin

History

The deserts of Bahru are hard to traverse, and harder to live in, resulting in various dragons to come together and form The Coalition of Acoth, an agreement between the dragons to set aside their differences and work together to survive. With the help of their dragonborn subjects, they managed to build Khovlaatar, an intricate city with finely made canals and stacking buildings.   Since the Lightfall, The dragons ruling over The Coalition of Acoth have scattered, fleeing to various pockets in the continent. In their absence, important traders have rose up and taken control over the city of Khovlaatar, but the rest of the lands held by the dragons have been lost to chaos. The city itself had sunk into the river, leaving only a few buildings above the water. Rope bridges are strung up between buildings to allow the passage from one to another, as well as various other kobald paths used by members of the city.

Architecture

The city is a sprawling maze of large sandstone buildings built to allow dragons to traverse easily. There are also tiny tunnels, walkways, and canals that interconnect the buildings to allow the dragon's servants to quickly traverse through the city as well.

Geography

Tucked in between two rivers, Khovlaatar is a lone oasis in a vast desert. The two rivers on either side are called the Tiamat River and the Bahamut River on the east and west respectively. Dragons can fight each other on either side of the river, but must behave in between the two rivers.
