Dharn Moldur

In the Grober Peaks there is a nation of dwarves which carved out huge sections of rock to build the dwarven citadel of Esmund.

Structure

Dharn Moldur is controlled by a Lead Architect based in Esmund. The position of Lead Architect is chosen democratically by biyearly elections. Power is also held in various factions throughout the city. These factions include:
  • The Four Corners Merchant's Guild, a group of merchant guilds from various industries banded together to influence societal conditions in their favor and further their interests
  • Cogsmith Union, A group dedicated to preserving the rights of the workers of the city.
  • Various Mining Companies
  • Religious Organizations

Culture

Citizens of Dharn Moldur have a very focused perception. Patriotic citizens might spend their time trying to grow Dharn Moldur, while more self interested citizens might be focused on other pursuits. Old fashioned beliefs about honor and glory have their place in society among the religious folk, while mainstream society has moved forward with a focus on innovation and exploration.   The Dwarves of Dharn Moldur are a passive people, but aren't afraid to show force if needed to achieve their own goals.

History

The dwarven tribes of Dharn Moldur was assisted by a angel named Kjoric and fought off the giant tribes in Grober Peaks. With them gone, the dwarves were able to thrive in that environment, and other dwarvish tribes were able to join the nation of Dharn Moldur.

Demography and Population

There are about 500,000 dwarfs living in Dharn Moldur, and occasionally other races make their way to Esmund.

Military

Apart from the red regiment, Dharn Moldur uses a variety of tactics to fight. Their army includes manufactured golems, clockwork soldiers, and war machines built by The Cogsmith Union. Due to their position in the mountains most nations have no interest in fighting them, but they are currently locked in a war with the duregar forces of Dharn Wohrum.

Technological Level

The most technologically advanced of any nation on Grikane, the dwarfs have quite a number of listed advances:
  • The invention of gunpower and the beginnings of firearms
  • Advances into Automata, including automated guardians in addition to servants
  • Powerful permanent enchantments, including teleportation glyphs

Foreign Relations

Dharn Moldur has positive relations with Trizia and inhabitants in the halfman valley.

Agriculture & Industry

Food is hard to grow underground, but their industry is unparalleled in all of Grikane. Providing iron, steel, and other goods to other countries is how Dharn Moldur is able to survive underground. What little resources they don't trade for they get from Luchen, a small base the dwarfs use to hunt the woods to the north.

Infrastructure

Esmund itself is connected to mines and other settlements via hundreds of snaking tunnels, each worming their way around the Grober peaks. A monorail system exists to move large amounts of cargo between Esmund and other underground outposts, mines, or forges.
