Thomas William Grafton was born Elizabeth Anne Grafton in 1822 out of wedlock to prostitute Annette Marie Grafton. Raised by several ladies of the night, Elizabeth realized she was actually a boy. With the love and support of her mother and the other ladies that raised her, Elizabeth became Thomas. Thomas began to live his life as a boy with only the ladies of the brothel knowing the truth. Thomas grew up a happy child with a deep love and appreciation for his mother and the other ladies of the brothel.
