With nowhere to go and no money, Annette became a prostitute at the Red Apple Pub and Inn. In 1821, Annette became pregnant with her daughter Elizabeth Anne Grafton who later grew up to be Thomas William Grafton. Annette did her best to raise Thomas and give him a better life than the one she had.
