Children Of The Light

Most humans follow the Mage Of Life and her teachings. She was once a wise woman and an advisor to King Maelon. Her guidance to the King and the other settlers in the first human city helped to form the new wave of culture and knowledge that grew from the new world. Known as the "Children Of The Light", the people who follow her teachings follow three main rules;
  1. All life is sacred
  2. The King speaks for all for he is the Lord
  3. Consider the world you live in and be thankful
  There are two religious holidays that the Children Of The Light celebrate.   The first is Sun Day; the longest day of the year. This usually lands between the middle of summer nad the start of fall. The scholars and skyreaders inform the King as to when this day shall be for it to be officially announced by the palace. It is celebrated by attending a day-long service in the Temple Of Light. The space is first-come, first-serve so a lot of the poorer people watch the service from outside the temple. Light streams in and polished silver discs are unveiled to shine a single beam of light upon a stained glass window. The window depicts King Maelon slaying a dragon who had been terrorising Maelis.   The second is Darkynrun; the third day of winter. This was supposedly the day that King Maelon set foot on what would become Maelis, and the Mage Of Life blessed the land. It is celebrated by making a large bonfire when the sun sets in the middle of the village. Dances and songs are performed about the impressive battles which King Maelon and his sons won. There is an offering made to the Mage Of Life so that she will protect people, their families, and their crops for the following year. This offering is usually a roasted hog or an item of sentimental value.
