Brain Squid

Brain Squid are a parasitic species that attaches itself to the back of the head. Once it is attached it feeds on the skull and brain, and when it has consumed the brain it places itself inside the empty skull. This is to use the body as transport, they also eat the eyeballs and the roof of the mouth of the victim placing their own eyes and mouth in their place. Brain Squid live in deep mud or in water, and can only attack if the victim is in the water because of the squid's very limited movement abilities. They use their new body to move with more freedom, and to find food. Once they have eaten the brain the memories become theirs; they use this ability to absorb intelligence. The more brains that they eat the more intelligent they become. Brain Squid tentacles are seen as a delicacy by most swamp dwelling elves.

It needs large amounts of meat, which is hard to find underwater, hence the parasitic nature.
