The Cinder Rift

A chain of volcanic islands filled with molten rock, fire, and ash. Now ruled by the proudest of Fire Giants.

Geography

A crescent ring of islands made of black volcanic soil. The Cinder Rift has five main islands with two smaller on the western end. The five main islands are mostly uninhabitable with flowing lava on their surface and plums of hot ash bursting from the ground. The largest island holds an abandoned fortress built into the active volcano known as BrazzenHold.

BrazzenHold

The second most eastern island in the Cinder Rift. Underground tunnels that used to be filled with magma now lead to the central magma chamber that served as the treasure room of a Red Dragon. Since the fall of Kalcor the Relentless some of that volcanic activity has resumed again.

Dread Peak

"The Red Jewel" of the Cinder Rift, the Dread Peak is a black obsidian mountain inhabited by a large centralization of Fire Giants as the eastern most and largest island. It is the one place along the Cinder Rift where volcanic activity has never ended, presumably from the Fire Giants drawing energy from the Plane of Fire.   The water surrounding the island keeps the giants contained but where the mountain has been turned into a palace so has the underground became their city, allowing them to branch out and expand without needing to cross water.   Many traders interested in materials drawn up from the molten earth come to Dread Peak to trade and deal with the giants.
