House Rules

0. Don't Be An Asshole

If you're being a dick. If you're cheating. If you're making other people uncomfortable and you won't heed my warnings. If you're not paying or last minute cancelling every time. You will be removed from the campaign. This is meant to be a collaborative adventure that's supposed to be fun for everyone. That includes me.   If you have any concerns with other players, the campaign, me or anything else related to the game. You can contact me and I will try to resolve the issue.

1. Table Manners

No Laptops or Computers on the table. They are simply too distracting and take up too much space. You can use a phone/tablet to look stuff up or manage your character sheet.   Make sure to bring your own equipment. If you're a new player it's okay if you don't have dice or the Player's Handbook but make sure you at least have your character sheet ready.   Order a drink. If you're playing at a location like Crafty Potions, they're primarily a lounge bar. It's rude not to order anything, you don't need to buy the most expensive stuff but a soda is only 2 euro's and if you're kind enough somebody might buy you a drink!   If you are uncomfortable with any subjects. Let me know so I can take it into account.

2. Flanking

A creature can’t flank an enemy that it can’t see. A creature also can’t flank while it is incapacitated. A Large or larger creature is flanking as long as at least one square or hex of its space qualifies for flanking.   Flanking on Squares. When a creature and at least one of its allies are adjacent to an enemy and on opposite sides or corners of the enemy’s space, they flank that enemy, and each of them has advantage on melee attack rolls against that enemy.   When in doubt about whether two creatures flank an enemy on a grid, trace an imaginary line between the centers of the creatures’ spaces. If the line passes through opposite sides or corners of the enemy’s space, the enemy is flanked.   Flanking on Hexes. When a creature and at least one of its allies are adjacent to an enemy and on opposite sides of the enemy’s space, they flank that enemy, and each of them has advantage on attack rolls against that enemy. On hexes, count around the enemy from one creature to its ally. Against a Medium or smaller creature, the allies flank if there are 2 hexes between them. Against a Large creature, the allies flank if there are 4 hexes between them. Against a Huge creature, they must have 5 hexes between them. Against a Gargantuan creature, they must have at least 6 hexes between them.

3. Variant Encumbrance

If you carry weight in excess of 5 times your Strength score, you are encumbered, which means your speed drops by 10 feet.   If you carry weight in excess of 10 times your Strength score, up to your maximum carrying capacity, you are instead heavily encumbered, which means your speed drops by 20 feet and you have disadvantage on ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws that use Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution.

4. Multiclassing

We use the traditional multiclassing rules, with the requirements as noted in the Player's Handbook (PhB).

5. Gritty Realism

This rule comes outside of the Dungeon Master's Guide (DMG), in this campaign. We use this variant whenever you are outside towns and cities. So Resting inside an Inn or Home still counts as normal.
This variant uses a short rest of 8 hours and a long rest of 7 days. This puts the brakes on the campaign, requiring the players to carefully judge the benefits and drawbacks of combat. Characters can’t afford to engage in too many battles in a row, and all adventuring requires careful planning.

6. Dropping unconscious

Dropping below 0 HP gives you a point of Exhaustion when you get healed or recover by waiting 1 hour.

7. Player Quests

In order to put up a quest or note on the quest board, you need to be an expidition leader (organise a session ooc). All session must have a date (check the doodle), location, an objective (so that the GM can prep) and a name (for documenting).

8. Strixhaven Curriculum of Chaos

All Spells and Backgrounds from SCoC are banned.
