The gods are angry. Millennia after creating a new paradise locked away from other worlds, they raised their offspring into power to help them rule. By the will of the fates, these mighty heroes banded together calling themselves the Furies' Fire. Through their adventures, they found their parents had secluded the world away, hiding it from prying eyes by imprisoning Ouranos, the sky and medium through which otherworldly travel is possible.   Going against warnings from their progenitors, the Furies Fire delved deep into the heart of a Titan and freed Ouranos from his icy prison. Hero Torvin Brixius gave his life to strike the final blow, freeing the elder god, and with him the greater cosmos. The barrier between worlds has fallen, Ouranos has ascended back to take his place, allowing travel across the planes once again. Witnessing this, the Gods removed their favor from our heroes only to have them see their own innate power burst forth and fill them with abilities beyond mortal beings. Frightened, Zeus and his family have retreated to Olympus, nestled within the branches of the world tree, vowing to end the lives of their offspring and every man, woman and child on the planet.   In the wake of these events, magic has exploded wildly, giving abilities to those who had no idea they were descended from greatness. Violent storms have erupted randomly and quakes have started shaking the mountains. Several have even started smoking, leading some to remember stories from antiquity describing the true ferocity of a god scorned. Clerics of the many Gods have been performing great miracles, showcasing their power, bringing in many worshipers who had let their faith fall to the wayside while enormous monsters have started terrorizing every town and city, leaving devastation in their wake.   Now, emissaries from distant lands are arriving in droves to Patras, seeking the Furies' Fire for help with the plague of monstrous beasts that terrorize their citizens, while in every thorp and hamlet, new heroes are picking up arms and learning mystic arts to become mighty in their own right. In the absence of our heroes, mortals have taken up the fight against the incoming tide of destruction. Along with this surge of new strength in men, most major cities are starting to notice a smattering of otherworldly beings. Some resemble creatures of myth, possibly remembered from times before this world was secluded, while others are wholly new.   While all this is taking place, astronomers have found a new star in the sky, deep red that is ever growing in brightness and have named it the Eye of Ares. Prophets are telling of a coming war that will shake the foundations of the world to its core.   The age of heroes is fading away, and with it, the age of mortals has begun.
