Naming Traditions
When a new member of the pack is born or accepted the pack Alpha and his pack organise a Gathering to welcome in the new member.
This ritual varies from Alpha to Alpha and pack to pack but all perform the ceremony.
Previous reiterations of this ritual including forcing the new member, or it's parents, to partake in fighting for their rank - sometimes to the death - to earn their place.
Most recently, around 25 years ago, Emile Leroux changed the ritual for his pack and removed this aspect, instead changing it to having his members select traditional Native American names for their soon to be brethren. Some did not appreciate the change and broke free of the pack but the remainder have embraced the new tradition.

History
Born of Eve with his twin, Inari, Tó díchʼíiʼnii scoured the Earth in search of prey. When Even and Hypolyes found themselves banished to Purgatory, Tó díchʼíiʼnii sought refuge among the humans, changing his shape to match there own.
When it became apparent that God had fled, or perhaps wasn't bothered by his presence among His children Tó díchʼíiʼnii started build his own domain among the humans, turning those that worshipped him into his first children; the lineage of the Alpha's had started.
He was approached by a god, Manitou, that had seen his children's worship and granted Tó díchʼíiʼnii a boon, "Teach your children to worship me and I will protect them from all that would oppose you.' He agreed and the god and Alpha happily ruled over his people.
At the time of exploration for humans the first of the European explorers landed on his continent and found his worshippers. Manitou did as he had promised, he protected Tó díchʼíiʼnii's children by hiding them from the explorers. It soon became apparent that among those exploring were the Men of Letters, calling themselves 'map makers' in search of others like himself. He had heard of these men, those that hunt his siblings children to near extinction on their own continent now come to find his own.
Tó díchʼíiʼnii knew that Manitou could not preserve them all, already the new humans were expanding their territory and more and more of his children were exposed. He had no choice but to allow Manitou's protection to slip from him and let the Men of Letters find him.
Tó díchʼíiʼnii was caught and interrogated by the Men of Letters in 1657, the Alpha was then shipped over seas to the London Chapter House where he was then executed.
To this day his lineage lives on under the veil of Manitou's protection.
