Even as a young boy, Brody knew he would grow up to become a wizard. It wasn't the secrets of the universe that interested him, nor the chance to harness phenomenal cosmic power. It was the fact that wizards always had the weirdest, wildest, coolest stuff.
A precocious student, Brody paid little attention to books, and preferred to learn by experience. When he wasn't crafting minor magical trinkets to sell and trade to his classmates and neighbors, he and his best friend Walter could be found scrounging for spell components in back alleys of Carpenden and the surrounding hills.
When Brody eventually travelled away from his hometown to continue his arcane training, he had to leave his friend Walter behind. After a time, loneliness got the better of him and drove him to inspiration. One night, in an Aether and Inspiration-Dust induced frenzy, Brody made his first and greatest attempt at simulacra-crafting: the Flask of Endless Walter, a wonderous item actually capable of summoning a copy of a specific, living mortal human. While it appears humble, the device bends the known rules of magic and reality to the near-breaking point. By all accounts, it shouldn't work, but it does, and it's continued existence is probably an affront to the laws of Gods and mortals alike. He can't remember how he did it. The Flask was misplaced during the hazy years between school and professional practice, and eventually found it's way into the hands of some wandering adventurers.
Nowadays, with the help of his best bud Walter, Brody runs a moderately successful chain of magical curiosity shops based out of Carpenden. He subscribes to the mantra "if you want something done right, do it yourself", and he takes it literally - each of his satellite locations is staffed by a simulacrum copy of himself. He may not be the most powerful wizard, nor the wisest, but he most definitely is the wizard with the weirdest, wildest, coolest stuff.
