A Rockfish Ode to Luck

After hearing Jacobius spout drunken stories of the Fisheries Four, Bogdan decided that his muse would be the chronicling and accompanying of the group he decided to dub The Rockfish Club .
His first penned song was both an account of his second hand knowledge of the party's exploits whilst exploring beneath Otari Fishery and a tribute to the deity worshipped by himself and two of the party members.

A ROCKFISH ODE TO LUCK
Desna by Lost Omens: World Guide (Paizo Inc)

A Copper for the Road,
A Copper for the Stars,
We all pledge this,
But do we mean it from our hearts,
But when we face our fears,
With daggers held up to the sky,
You're ne'er alone,
When you chase that butterfly
    Be ready for the challenge,
And Unexpected Friends,
When exploring in the darkness,
Who knows where the passage wends,
When you leap and down you fall,
And you wish that you could fly,
You're ne'er alone,
When you chase that butterfly
    When the kobolds swarm
And you're backed against the wall,

learn from what is different,

And you'll be standing true and tall,

When friendly spears do aid you,

And reptilian death croaks cry,

You're ne'er alone,
when you chase that butterfly

The song recounts a number of events that occurred during the group's first time adventuring together including the following:
  • Zana leaping at a Giant Rat with her dagger whilst shouting a Desnan Aphorism
  • The party adventuring together despite not knowing each other
  • Exploring unlit tunnels and corridors
  • Jacobius repeatedly falling down off ledges
  • Fighting a throng of kobolds
  • Arming a trap which resulted in spears impaling two kobold adversaries

The song also references a number of well-known Desnan aphorisms including the following:
  • A Copper for the song, A Copper for the road (Bogdan modified this slightly, but it refers to the custom of paying a Desnan bard 2 coppers. The first is out of respect for Desna, and the second is an acknowledgement of the bard's skill, or a plea for him to play elsewhere if performing poorly)
  • Be ready for the challenges and unexpected friends (Worshippers should train in combat or magic so they can overcome adverse situations on their travels)
  • You are never lost following butterflies (The repeating theme in the song refers to Desna's faithful trusting in their intuition and the signs and luck provided by their goddess and was also Zana's war-cry attacking a giant rat)
  • Learn from what is different (Desna's followers should accept others who espouse friendship, regardless of ancestry or faith - the party have different ethnicities and disagreed on actions at times, but still worked well together to succeed regardless of their differences)
