Transmission & Vectors
Vampirism is transformed in two ways: Either by death from a vampire, or being turned by a specific Magic Item. True vampires are made when a Vampire spawn undergoes a ritual using their true vampire master's blood.
Causes
Typically, a vampire that comes into or near town, vampire spawn will begin appearing, until either the town, or the people, are destroyed.
Symptoms
To start, the victim will feel cold as ice. Their canine teeth will grow much sharper, allowing for the victim to pierce other creatures to drink their blood.
Treatment
Vampirism can be cured by a Greater Restoration spell. Otherwise, the creature is incurable.
Prognosis
Long-term, the creature will become truly evil and try to hunt and seek more creatures to turn.

Prevention
Staying away from other vampires, blood cults, and Red Wizards helps. Neck Guards also help keep Vampires from biting a soon-to-be victim.
Epidemiology
If a vampire comes into a city or town, they will begin the epidemic.
History
143wr, a cult of the blood god Zusrhaxta created a stone mask to grant them the powers of blood. This mask created the vampires, and more masks like that one exist in the world.
