Mimic Man
A strange race of creatures that can shapeshift into objects.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Mimic men have a similar anatomy to humans, but their skin has the texture and feel of materials like wood, steel, stone, leather, and other materials.
Genetics and Reproduction
Mimic men are made in 2 different ways. The first way is standard reproduction. Mimic men reproduce sexually, with a gestation period of 11 months. The second way is through a ritual using a mimic's heart, a human bone, a doppleganger piece of skin (A tuft of hair from a changeling also works), and a sentient magic item. Mixing all of these items in a pool of Basilisk blood for 3 hours will create a mimic man. These come to life with a stoney texture, but can change their skin to whatever they want. These Mimic men cannot reproduce.
Growth Rate & Stages
Mimic men begin life looking like a regular human. At age 10 they learn how to change their skin to a different texture. At age 30 they learn how to shape change into items, and at age 40 they are considered adults. Mimic men do not physically age until they reach age 350, where their skin begins to look rotted and old.
Ecology and Habitats
Mimic men do not have a natural environment, but they live best in urban areas.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Mimic men are omnivores.
Additional Information
Domestication
Mimic men made through the ritual tend to be much more subservient, and are usually servants to wizards who figured out how to do the ritual.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Mimic men's saliva is a sticky glue that can last 5 minutes. They typically use this feature to temporarily put up items such as ladders that needed to be taken down after use.
Facial characteristics
Mimic men have similar faces to normal humans, although a few have the elegant features of an elf. They cannot grow a beard.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Most Mimic Men are found in Drandar
Average Intelligence
Mimic men have the intelligence of a Human
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Mimic men can shapeshift into an item no larger than a 5 foot cube, and no smaller than a 6 inch cube.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Mimic men have been shown to be able to tame Mimics, although rare. They typically use Mimicry to protect their homes.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Mimic Men call themselves by the item they like, like wood, book, or sword.
Beauty Ideals
Mimic men who have similar textures are usually attracted to each other. This does not mean that if they have a child, they will create a baby that will develop that skin texture.
Gender Ideals
Female Mimic Men are to care for children, while Males are to protect the female.
Courtship Ideals
When a Mimic man falls in love, they try to impress their lover by the use of pranks. The more impressive the prank, the more likely the Mimic man will convince their lover, unless their lover is not a Mimic man.
Relationship Ideals
Mimic men usually want a "partner in crime" style of relationship, where they and their partners work together for pranks, jokes, and such.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Common. Usually, they also learn one language that a parent or master knew.
History
In the year 1982wr, a wizard named Bransh Woodwoa came up with the theory about creating the Mimic men. In the year 1999wr, after a few attempts, the first Mimic man was made. He was taught what was happening in the world, and was given the status of servant to him. Bransh would make more Mimic Men, until 2020wr, because the Calamity event caused the Mimic men to Change, giving them the ability to reproduce, and a sense of freedom. Bransh was fascinated by this, and made more Mimic Men, using the Limbostuff in the mixture to see what would happen. As expected, they developed similarly to the ones affected by the Calamity event, meaning she created life. When she passed on in 2060wr, the Mimic men would leave and try to find places to live. When the Calamity event ended, the new race would be seen as a weird race of humans who are also constructs. They were put under a protection status by Scholars who wanted to understand how they are sentient. They have found that, in their creation, the sentient magic items gave them a sense of sentience, but subverience, which was broken by the Limbostuff. Research continues for these creatures.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Mimic men are mostly neutral to other species, and hated by monsterous species. Warforged, Steederfolk, and some Fey like sprites are friendly to them.
