Born an average human in a less-than-fortunate town, Kaio was raised to take over his families smithy. His resistance to heat made him a stellar candidate when compared to his many siblings. His amber eyes were unbothered by smoke or steam. Kaio's work became known across the land, drawing warriors from across the globe and growing the small town into a bustling metropolis...Atsila.
Kaio grew in power as the city grew, ending up as an advisor to the leader of Atsila, but eventually dying alone.
He woke up the day after his funeral, fire coursing through his veins and hair, newly grown fangs in his mouth, but above all else, power in every step he took. Instead of returning to his city, he donned a cloak and began to travel, slowly realising the power he posessed.
He kept a fairly low profile in every place he visited, though he grew overconfident. In the small fishing town of Windermere, a weaver offered to patch his cloak in exchange for one of his weapons. When he removed the cloak, she was terrified by his appearance and called for her wife to help her. The wife and her crew surrounded Kaio and were about to attack.
They all froze, faces agape. Kaio, flinching away from the fishook aimed for his face, glanced up to see a beautiful figure, with alabaster hair falling below his shoulders, draped in his own weight in finery.
"Leave him." The stranger spoke, a commanding voice, but no louder than a whisper. The fishermen stood down kneeling to the figure, who guided Kaio out of the village and into a nearby glade.
Kaio would soon know the figure as Vaneas, his closest friend and love of his life.
