Barlac

One of the shattered gods.   Power: ability to heal injuries and sicknesses.   Emotion: Fear   Call:   Weakness: The bind itself. Bound of Barlac have one of the shortest expected lifespans of any bound under observation. Suicide rate is incredibly high.   Barlac-bound are often called "true healers", separate from Mirrors. Although it's true they can heal much more than Mirrors can, they aren't without their own weaknesses in healing. A bound cannot heal any injury or disease that a person was born with, only ones that have developed as they aged. In essence, they restore a part of a person to the optimal condition it would have been at full health. A person born without a foot would have no use for a true healer, as the deformity has been a part of them long enough that it is part of their very fiber.   True healers are incredibly valuable to the temple, but their short lifespan makes them hard to care for. The constant battering of unnatural fear warps their psyche, and those that don't attempt to kill themselves are at risk of shutting down into apathy much earlier than any other bind. Recommendation is to pair them with another different type of bound or two that can watch for warning signs and provide emotional support to weather the onslaught.   Bound should be advised not to call their bond frivolously, but only in times of great need. The less they use it, the happier and healthier they will stay. However, one must ensure they don't lock themselves away from the power entirely, or the bound are of no use to the temple.
