Gnosis Mythos

A fallen world that resembles the contemporary world in many ways, yet it is a distorted reflection. In this world the nights loom longer, the shadows cast are much darker, and the evening fogs and steam obscure many mysteries. Many people go about their lives trying to ink out a manageable existence, trying their best to ignore the violence and madness they see and hear from the news and social media. In the stream of mundane and shocking news odd tales of unexplained events and mysteries occur and most simply ignore them, the few who dare to investigate further find themselves either ignored by the masses or ridiculed.   The brave and foolish souls who dare to find out more about the strange oddities that they have stumbled across usually come out empty handed, and for some they would be consider the lucky ones. For beneath the veneer of the pleasant facade known as normality lies a secret world filled with many secrets, horrors, and insanity, all lurking in every nook and cranny waiting for some poor unfortunate soul to discover them.   In untamed wilderness and densely populated cities, monstrous beings and marudaing specters roam and lurk, unseen to most people. Occult conspiracies scheme to obtain esoteric knowledge and power as they pull the strings behind powerful individuals and institutions to make follow through unknowable machinations concocted by these puppet masters. Unexplained alien activities and anomalous phenomenon occur in many places, sometimes close to potential witnesses and victims. These activities either missed by most are covered up by powerful people who wish to keep the unknown forces of the reality undisclosed to the public, for either they wish to keep the secrets to themselves or because they fear how humanity as a whole will react to the truth.   As secret words are shared in hushed whispers, arcane sigils deciphered by both lone scholars and powerful cabals, and investigators and researchers alike comb through the many eldritch truths of the cosmos, often risking their very lives and sanity in the process. Yet for every answer gained more secrets and mysteries will remain as many of them contain answers that most mortal minds could never hope to comprehend, for knowing the answers is knowing the minds of the gods.     Moreover, this world is not the only one nor was it always the world humanity knows it as today . From worlds among the stars containing worlds inhabited by alien intelligences, to universes and timelines parallel to the main reality, and realms in both higher and lower planes of existence, and those isolated from reality itself. These worlds offer even more horrors and secrets to anyone willing to venture into them, assuming they don't venture into the world on their own. Yet mankind may not have the time to know these secrets, for the time of this world is drawing to its end. The current cycle is about to reach its zenith and once it's concluded the prologue to a new world shall commence, continuing the story of death and rebirth that has been playing out for untold eons.
