Mellie

Sage Mellie (a.k.a. Mell)

Mellie is a Sheikah Biologist and the sage of Nature. She is posted in Lurelin to trap Ancient Fluid that was spilled into the water ways of Hyrule and are thus flowing into the ocean.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Mellie quickly rose the ranks in the sheikah clan due to her intellect and precision. She realized early on that what fascinated her most was diversity of Hyrule's wildlife and how much might be unknown about said wildlife. Although originally on the path to become an assassin, she switched to being a scholar. Shortly afterward, she was approached by the Great Fairy of Wisdom and was told she was the next sage of Nature.

Education

Mellie was trained first as a Sheikah assassin, and second as a Scholar.

Employment

Mellie is focused on studying the marine wildlife of Hyrule, but she is also monitoring the Ancient Fluid traps built by Gordon.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Mellie has become so knowledgeable about the nature of Hyrule that she has become the Sage of Nature. She is a reputable scholar for the sheikah.

Failures & Embarrassments

Mellie has made some rash judgements in her research, some of which have lead to inhumane practices. For example, she has been forbidden from returning to the desert after desecrating some of the tombs to study the mummies there.

Mental Trauma

Mellie's parents were drunkards and were rarely around. They largely left Mellie to her own devices, which explains her weirdness and her fascination with nature... she had too much time alone in the woods.

Intellectual Characteristics

Mellie is incredibly smart, but not at all wise.

Morality & Philosophy

Mellie has little to no sense of morality. She enjoys helping others, tends to be selfless and sacrificial, and certainly isn't evil. However, she often doesn't realize that things she does might be considered "bad" or "immoral".   She, like all Sheikah, understands the importance of Hylia. However, she doesn't really care much about the gods or lore or anything she can't observe or touch or cut open.

Taboos

Mellie caught wind of research being done long ago to create biological soldiers and chimeras (Dorian told her). Interested in seeing if such a thing could be done, she did some of her own experiments. She was successful, but the things she made disgusted the clan leader who labeled them as "artificial demons". Mellie's research on the topic was shut down and considered taboo from then on.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Mellie is driven by a desire to discover new things, hopefully things that help people, but any discovery is worth being discovered to her.
