Wojtec bushes and Bloodberries (Voy-tek)

The hedgehog ran around her with a branch of three leaves in its mouth and placed it on Malek’s leg, where the wound was. The cat seemed to stand on its hind legs - if you could call the base of the fire legs - and nuzzled Becca’s cheek. It felt cold, surprisingly. “What do you want?” she asked miserably. The hedgehog ran off. The cat stared at her in that way that cats do. She took the leaf the hedgehog had left behind and felt that it was oily to the touch. “Little bit gross,” she muttered. She touched the tender wound and realized it seemed less swollen now. “Great. I have no idea what that means. And I don’t have my knife.” She pressed the leaf to the wound again, putting pressure on it. The hedgehog came back, dragging a leaf full of bloodberries. “What are you, Grandfather Frost?” Becca scoffed. “What is with the gifts?” The hedgehog then proceeded to drag the leaf over and dump it on Malek’s leg. “Hey!” She yelled. Malek whined and she glared at the hedgehog. The wound was going crazy now, with berries reacting to it much like the iron had reacted to Rowan’s skin, in Becca’s opinion. Malek hissed and cried in pain. “Stupid, stupid, stupid…” Becca muttered. “Let me see.” Becca looked up desperately to find Auntie Diene accompanied by Auntie Yusra and Auntie Huda. She gulped hard as she let the women see Malek. “Why, he’s nearly half-healed. Where did you find these plants, child?” Auntie Huda asked. She was one of the oldest women in the village, and when she squinted in scrutiny, it might as well have been her ancestors and yours judging you. “Just...a hunch?” Becca squeaked. I owe a hedgehog an apology.

Anatomy

Bloodberries are based on those tiny berries that grow on all bushes and trees around my elementary school that were brightly colored but ultimately useless for food. At some point someone tried to feed the berries to a bug and the result of the question "is this poisonous or not" was inconclusive. So, bloodberries grow here in lieu of any useful fruits that grow on bushes or trees. Oily wojtek leaves are based on the question "what if there was an anti-poison ivy?"
