Fairy-blessed

When a human and an Empyrean of one type or another love each other very much... their children come out differently than normal humans. Sometimes, though, humans come out differently than "normal" regardless of having a magical parental unit. The symptoms typically include things like bad eyesight coupled with superhuman hearing, or extreme sensitivity to certain fabrics, allergens, being touched unexpectedly, etc. These children are typically called "fairy-blessed," though they are regularly, regrettably, not always viewed as potential flourishing members of society. Some of the children are non-verbal or have some sort of "second sight." Some just plain are not good at making eye contact. The features of any given Blessed child vary greatly in the long run, but the symptoms correspond to various animals and superpowered creatures that the child may one day even grow up to shift into.

Transmission & Vectors

Human mothers typically go through a period of low blood sugar while their hybrid baby is in utero, and any fairy-blessed child likewise develops an affinity for sweets to keep their energy up. This is due to an element based on lanthanum being abundant in the bloodstream of Empyreans, causing all affected children to have low phosphorus levels and a strange immunity to kidney disease. By contrast the "by proxy" fairy-blessed children have less lanthanum and a higher chance of allergies.

Causes

Either an Empyrean was really fond of your mom or dad and so blessed you by proxy, or an Empyrean was really fond of your mom or dad and decided to BECOME your mom/dad.

Symptoms

Symptoms They may have sensitivity to light, acute hearing, low energy levels, a "faraway" look in their eyes at least half the time, and sensitivity to touch, either because they are gradually doing the equivalent of "wolfing out" or just because it's uncomfortable, painful, and bothersome. They are short of stature, sometimes completely lacking in appetite and energy, have fragile bones and/or stiff joints, and small-ish teeth. On the magical end of things, they get the superpower of an animal: great eyesight for tigers, swiftness for deer, great hearing for wolves, quick thinking for foxes, etc. while also getting one or more of that animal's weaknesses, like how a deer is colorblind by human standards. They might also get a purely magical ability like becoming invisible at will or seeing ghosts.

Treatment

Love your kids, no matter their talents or limitations. Assess their needs. Follow through with providing them.

Prognosis

They can live wonderful, fruitful lives and someone will always hate on them just because they have different needs. If they can't get enough things like sugar, phosphorus, mental healthcare, or skincare, they are going to struggle, though
