Adamantios Morandi (Ah-dah-mahn-tee-ohs More-ahn-dee)

This world's equivalent of Marco Polo is Adamantios Morandi, the curious son of devout Hellesian Orthodox Yeshuan merchants. His dad and uncle went on a whole journey to Luan Dynasty Huanjin, an alternate version of Yuan Dynasty China, and made enough connections with the emperor there (Kublai) to gain a seal of approval for open trade with them on the Silk Road. After a brief crusade where the Morandis had to leave Emilianopolis in order to escape maurading Stephonians, they went on a second voyage and this time brought Adamantios (Adam for short) and his journal. In slight contrast to Tobias Kumiega, whose journal became the backbone of Karanyan society to some extent, Adam's journal is much more fanciful, being a creative person who loves folklore and adventure. The man saw his first rhino and only wrote "saw a unicorn today. Was bigger than I was expecting," for crying out loud. When he met the emperor, while the Kumiega brothers were doing their legendary shenanigans, he was given such responsibilities as shepherding a princess to her future husband in the Khanates, governing various districts on behalf of the emperor, and going on trade missions to Bharata and the Nusantara peninsula. Upon returning home, he could most often be found regaling people with the stories of his travels, and hopping all over Civilis just because being far from home is an adventure, but it also makes you appreciate the little things of your homeland more. His stories got re-written down by a glorified fanfiction writer locked in a cell with him during the next crusade (Emilianopolis attacked Ravenna-Venezia in retaliation for torching and sacking their city for money to pay the Venetian shipbuilders) but he died peacefully in his early eighties, surrounded by his wife and children, secure in the knowledge that he was now not only a legend because of his stories, but also that he had fostered a long-lasting friendship between his homeland and the newly founded kingdom of Karanya and the Ilkhanate, where his best friends (the Kumiegas and Princess Kokochin) lived.
