The Trentalvi

The Trentalvi are a race of plant-based people living in the tropical rainforests. Their appearance varies on what tree they are (willows have long messy leaves as hair while palms have waxy leaves).   They are a very private, but calm race. They enjoy staying close to their home forests, only venturing out to trade. They do not need to eat, instead get a certain amount of sunlight every day to stay green.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Trentalvi do not have bones; instead they have thick stalks which act as support for the bendable green "muscles" that cover them. These muscles are covered in a thin bark which acts as their skin. Trentalvi have leaves for hair that absorb sunlight everyday.

Genetics and Reproduction

Female Trentalvi reproduce by pollination. Every spring, they grow flowers which bees and other bugs fly to and pollinate. Then they produce seeds which are planted into the ground. A new Trentalvi is born from that seed in about a month.

Ecology and Habitats

The rainforests of the South are vast and ancient, with trees that tower over the forest floor. The Trentalvi live in the canopies of the trees in round huts made of leaves, with bridges of vines between every branch. They stay up closer to the sun to gain nutrients.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Trentalvi only need sunlight to survive. They can't stay in the dark for long periods of time or they will starve.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Small, monolid eyes, flat noses and full lips. Faces are very round.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

All Trentalvi reside in the corners of the rainforest.

Average Intelligence

Very intelligent and very curious. No advanced metal technology, however they use crystals and magic in a variety of ways.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Trentalvi have eyes, ears, and a mouth for speaking. However they cannot taste nor feel. They feel no pain when injured or sick, and can naturally heal faster than most mammal species. They can also dig roots into the ground to soak up nutrients and heal faster.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Trentalvi do not have last names, instead use "of [town name]" to show what community they are from. Most names are Greek.

Major Organizations

The Trentalvi Rainforest is a republic with senators from the four directions East, West, North, and South. The senators are known as The Lexvirs.   Trentalvi have no religious beliefs.

Beauty Ideals

A vibrant shade of green in the eyes and leaves mean the Trentalvi is in good health. Healthy Trentalvi are considered the most beautiful.

Gender Ideals

Men and women are expected to be equally studious and curious about the world around them.

Relationship Ideals

Trentalvi do not believe in monogamous relationships, and instead live in close communities with all their loved ones.

Average Technological Level

Trentalvi excel in magical discoveries, and their first alchemists discovered the widely used potions today. They were the first to use crystals to harbor great amounts of magic to be used in spellcasting.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Trentalvi don't have their own language, instead they speak a very heavily altered Elvish, closely related to Dahlish.

Common Etiquette Rules

Trentalvi are very polite and respect all people. It's considered a scandal to disrespect foreigners especially.

Common Dress Code

Trentalvi wear beads around their necks that completely cover their torso. They wear long skirts made of colorful fabric too.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

For every year of their life, a Trentalvi will receive a bead on a special necklace.   Lexvirs carve their bark with runes of guidance to make the best decisions for their providence.

Common Taboos

To disrespect a foreigner is considered one of the highest taboos, and the Trentalvi is publicly scorned for the rest of their life. A monogamous relationship is also very scandalous.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Trentalvi adore the Dahl, and trade with them the most often. They also are interested in the humans; however the humans have always been skeptical of the magical trees. They have neither good nor ill will to the Pardi, but they don't appreciate them attacking their closest ally.
