Lepidotera

Lepidiatera the Swift (a.k.a. "Terra")

For ten years of her life, Lepidotera was a lab rat, testing on daily by human scientists.   For the next five, she was a fugitive, searching for her home.   Now, she is a Wanderer, with a quest to restore her species and magic to the land of Ghiadum.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

She is very small and thin. Her bones are very brittle and lightweight, so they are easily broken if not careful. She has a similar body structure to the Trentalvi.

Body Features

Her skin is pale gold with darker freckles scattered across all her limbs. Terra has long fingers and toes with sharp nails on both, almost like talons. Her wings are white and the feathers are incredibly soft.

Facial Features

Her face is very round and child-like. Her eyes take up a lot of her face, with long white eyelashes. Her teeth are sharp like a shark's, and she has a button nose with small lips. Terra has long and pointed ears.

Physical quirks

She flutters wildly like a butterfly, unable to fly in a straight direction. Instead, she prefers to sit on people's shoulders. Terra has a tendency to latch onto them with her talons thought, and it can feel like a needle in their skin.

Special abilities

Lepidiatera has the ability to heal with her touch. She also has light magic that can be used to light candles or it can explode in a blinding flash.

Apparel & Accessories

Terra wears a dress with a white rose petal bodice and a lily skirt.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Lepidiatera was born in the last few years of the Diamond Age. The Knights Venandi were still hunting the Fae in Trentalvi lands, and Terra was forced to flee often. While her family was traveling to a Trentalvi village for sanctuary, they were caught by the Knights and taken back to the human kingdom. There, her family and she were experimented on by human scientists. This lasted for twenty years before she finally escaped her glass cage by releasing her magic in an explosion. She fled to the Grand Forest, where she comes across the Wanderers.

Mental Trauma

Terra has a strong fear of humans; she is so terrified she will freeze the instant she sees one. She remembers the trauma of watching her race being hunted into extinction and goes into a panic attack when she thinks about it.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Lepidiatera wants to restore magic in the forest and bring back the Fae. She can create new Fae by finding the Tree of Origins.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Terra is a fast flier despite being directionally challenged. She can fly at speeds of 80 mph in open terrain.   She can't fight at all besides biting and scratching her enemy, which does little damage to them since she in so small.

Likes & Dislikes

She likes nature, clouds, watching the sky, all kinds of flowers, honey, resting in the sun, and pulling pranks on the Wanderers (Ratimir especially)   However she hates humans, weapons of any kind, rainy days, the smell of rot and mildew, needles, mean bugs, and the cold.

Virtues & Personality perks

Lepidiatera is very sweet and kind-hearted. She cares deeply about those she loves, and understands she has a duty to protect her kind from total extinction.

Vices & Personality flaws

Lepidiatera is very stubborn, prone to tantrums if she doesn't get what she wants. She is still very childish despite being nearly 200 years old. Her stubbornness often leads to recklessness when she tries to get what she wants on her own.   She also has an addiction to honey.

Personality Quirks

When someone tells a really good joke, she tends to fall over laughing so hard. She looks around often after years spent in hiding.

Social

Contacts & Relations

The Wanderers made her an honorary member after escorting her back to the Tree of Origins. She now acts as a diplomat for the Fae as their citystate is rebuilt.

Mannerisms

She uses her hands a lot when speaking to large crowds of people, and runs her hand through her hair if she's embarrassed. Her wings flutter lightly when she's startled, and they perk up straight when she's alarmed and focused.
The Fae was small in her hands.   A tiny little creature, with bright gold skin and wings of the softest downy feathers Ilva had ever felt. Her white hair stuck up in little tuffs on her head, pale eyelashes fluttering as her eyes opened. She rubbed her eye with one clawed hand as she sat up in Ilva’s palm.   Her voice sounded like a bell, but the words that come out were unintelligible to Ilva. Elias heard exactly what she was saying though. “Who are you calling scary, shrimp?”   “Wait, you can understand her?” Ilva asked.   Elias’ brow furrowed in confusion. “You can’t?”
