Alphegos

The Alphegos are an extinct race, though a part of the coalition, it took a much less active role than most races, taking only very small responsibilities in the organization.
The Alphegos are a race dedicated to the gathering, learning and protecting the knowledge of the universe. They have saved all of the knowledge in a place called "Alexandria"(It is said, that the humans have heard a couple of Alpegos in Egypt talk about their great library, and decided to name their own after it), a great library planet kept in a secret temporal bubble. Though all may enter it, only few do due to the difficult process of gaining access and traveling to it.

The Alphegos are a nomadic race, traveling to all ends of the galaxy in search of new information and new species they can persuade to join the coalition, but the Alphegos are a passive race in all that doesn't involve them directly, this has gained them both admiration and notoriety. Admiration to the fact that they are true to their ideals, and notoriety of their passive nature and their unwillingness to help other races when they've been in dire situations.

At one point of time, the Alphegos decided they needed to learn how to protect the knowledge they have gathered. Naturally, they create a new martial art, made from thousands of different martial arts and techniques. They have called their art: Enbi. "En" and "Bi", the words strike and defend accordingly.

The creation of the martial art has created a rift between two different sides of the race. An active side("The Guardians") and a passive side("The Librarians"). The Guardians thought that now that they possess great martial art skills, they can use it to help lesser races defend themselves against dark terrors, risking their lives to help others. The Librarians wanted to resume their normal lifestyle and traditions, they saw the race as a chronicler of the history of the galaxy, as they always were, and mere watcher of the happenings of the universe.

This rift came to a conclusion in a global event called "The Debate", in this event, both sides argue for their claim, and each mature Alphego casts a vote based on the merit of the arguments given. Based on that vote, the race collectively decides the path forward, and the losers waives any claims to changes and agrees to continue on the chosen path. After The Debate, the Librarians had won the majority vote, but they did gave way for some small changes. This gave rise to the "Protectors" a class of Alphegos in charge of defending Alaxandria and the Seekers.

After the creation of the martial art and The Debate, the race had split into three main classes. Two lower classes and a higher class. The two lower classes were: Protectors. The Protectors were masters of Enbi, they were larger, stronger, more resilient and had higher instincts than their Seekers counterpart, but they lacked the deep knowledge that the Seekers had, they were guard, gatekeepers and protectors of the Seekers. The second class: The Seekers, were more agile and lighter than the Protectors, they were the writers and spies of the Alphegos, their bodies perfect for scouting and infiltration.

The third, higher class were the Masters. The Masters was not a class you were born into or trained to be, they were the natural ascension of those talented enough in both Enbi and knowledge. They were the elite of the species. They were the ambassadors of the coalition, and the first aliens that most species met on their road to join the coalition. The Masters were renowned for being the smarted, wisest and most powerful beings in the galaxy.

The Alphegos were one of the first species to join the Atman project, they have sent their head of state and master, Master Kastor. It took several tries to insert his knowledge and wisdom into the device. After several decades, when Kastor was near his death, he decided to transfer his consciousness into the Atman. Little did he know that the Alphegos demise was near.

The destruction of the Alphego: The Alphego home planet, was one of the first one to be attacked by the Black Suns. They knew that they are poorly defended due to their pacifistic nature, and decided to deal a moral blow to the coalition by killing their smarted species. After a quick assault, they have destroyed the planet along with it's inhabitants.(It is speculated that if The Guardians have won The Debate, they would've been able to protect themselves, even if a little).

After the destruction of the planet, all communications have been lost with Alexandria. This is due to having all communications and transport to the Library planet originating in secret technology that only the Alphegos home planet had. It is speculated that some parts of the race had survived on Alexandria, but it is not possible to get there without the knowledge and means that they possessed.

Anatomy

Average height for an Alphego is 2.5 meters.
Their skin color is light green.
They have horns, usually dark and short.
Their flash is poisonous.
They have large streaks of black and grey over their bodies, usually this shows their age and amount of knowledge they have accumulated. There are rare, legendary even, Alphegos whose whole body is black and grey without any hint of green. The most recent example of someone like that is Kastor.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Alphegos are not mammals(or something close to it). They reproduce by eggs. Their eggs are guarded by Protectors.

Growth Rate & Stages

Alphegos have a very short maturation period. They can walk and talk by their first year, and reproduce by their fifth. They are deemed mature when they have become either a Protector or a Seeker, and are allowed to breed only afterwards.

Ecology and Habitats

The Alphegos planet was a green lush planet, full of plants, mushrooms and animals. The Alphegos primary source of nutrition were monster mushrooms which grew up to 60 meters in height. They cannot process meat and animal products.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Due to the large size and brilliant mind, the Alphegos require high amount of Protein and Carbohydrates. This led them to mass produce the mushroom trees and enhance them biologically to have more proteins and carbohydrates. By human standards, the mushrooms are super foods.

The Alphegos are divided into 3 main classes. Protectors, Seekers and Masters.

99.995% of the population lives on the home planet. Up to 20% of the population can be away at times for scouting, protecting and political affairs.
0.005% of the population lives in Alexandria.

Average Intelligence

The Alphegos are one of the smartest races in the galaxy, able to calculate any odds in mere fractions.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Alphegos have natural telepathic and telekinetic abilities and have an acute affinity for magic. They are brilliant, and are mathematicians of the highest order, able to calculate perfectly the odds of every action taken.
These abilities were thought of when deciding to give the Atman to the MI6.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

The most common naming tradition came by using information the the closest seeker relative learned on the first planet they visited.
This led to some Alphegos being named after curses and common tools, but this had subsided much over the years.

Average Technological Level

The Alphegos have reached FTL travel, but had no weapons. They used this ability to travel to distant planets to seek knowledge.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

All of the knowledge of the race is held by Kastor, the last Master of the Alphegos.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most races knew Alphegos due to them being the first alien faces most races saw. They were the ambassadors of the coalition and most prominent debaters in the galaxy. Though they had no official positions of power in the coalition, they were listened to.
