Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

History

They're one of the Aṣṭagatyaḥ, and as such they were created with Gea and all its magical creatures.   Once upon a time, they were the ‘army’ of Aka, the secret keepers and the protectors of the realm. Originated from the mountain of Riskshavat, there were three chiefs (Vali, Sugriva, Hanuman), each of them taking over different areas of Gea. The first to make an alliance with them was the Red King Rama, whom was aided by an army in his search of Sita, his companion, and his kidnapper. Nala and Nila, two Vanara, built a bridge to allow him to cross (I don’t know what yet).

Common Myths and Legends

A few generations later, the Sorian Prince found a way to let messages through the barrier and delivered one to the centre of the shield power, the Sacred Tree, as a game. Since only the Royal Family was allowed to the Tree it was the akaian prince who found it. As such began the correspondence between the two, and of course they fell in love. After years of writing to each other, the two princes wanted to meet, but it was not possible to break the barrier, for they knew nothing about how it was formed and they would have not wanted their families to know (furthermore the akaian prince had been taught that the barrier was to protect Gea from war and he was reluctantto destroy it for his own gain), so they looked for a way in or a secret door, until the akain prince remembered that his great-grandfather had told him of a friend of his of the Vanaram very skilled with secret passageways. He reached out to that powerful race and asked for their help.   Nala and Nila, two lovers from different Clans, were moved by his story and accepted to help them. They all arranged to meet in a tunnel deep underground beneath the palace, where the shield had taken a weird form, allowing people on the deserted side of the Vulcano, but not under the palace. The akain prince ha learned that when the barrier was made, the Tree had refused to be cagedm so he had allowed onlu part of his roots to be bound. Half of them were freem though it was a well guarded secret even among the most prominent members of Aka’s royalty. Inside the tunnel the shield was right under the tree and there was where they met.   Though they ould not see each other, they could sense they were near. Nala and Nila chanted for hoursm untuk the two of them could pass through anytime the wanted. “The pathway will open only to the presence of both your souls, we used your magic to open it since they were originally part of the same being. There was already a link there that we could exploit.” The two of them met often after that, at least once a month, but as the years went by, they saw each other less and less. Once they became kings, they had to put their kingdoms first, but they still found time for each other, even if sporadically. Neither of them ever married though, nor took another lover. When they felt their time was near, they met once again, under the Roots of the Sacred Tree and they sat there, each on its own side of the barrier, but shoulder against shoulder, holding hands for one last time. There, old and grey, in the place where they had first met, they drew their last breath, a faint smile on their lips, because even though their love had been difficult, they could not regret a second of it.   Soon after their death, Nala and Nila went to the passage, but their bodies weren’t there anymore, but two roots t could be seen, breaking the roof of the tunnel, piercing the hard ground. A small ribbon was wrapped around each of the, and the Vanara recognized them as the two charms they had gifted them the day they became kings. On the branch outside the shield was a red ribbon, the Blue King’s, while on the roots on the inside, was the blue one, which had belonged to the Red King. As they came out from the tunnel they thought that maybe even now the Sacred Tree held, together with the souls of every Red King in history, also the soul of one Blue King.
