Witness Shrew

Basically a want to make a kind of elephant shrew that is generally hardier than their kin, lives much longer, is more social, has much keener senses, and has a small marking of a white or yellow dot on their forehead. These improved elephant shrews feed not only on insects and nuts, but on Witnessing mortal acts (anything that carries emotional, moral, ethical, or artistic weight- anything that is uniquely sentient). Upon witnessing an act of Mortal Purpose (anything that would remove or add Goodboy points for a Shrimp), one of the Witness Shrews of the group is made a Grand Witness and will become eternally young and begin slowly growing larger and larger (they do not require more food, this is magic). There can only be one Grand Witness per shrew cluster.   A Grand Witness Shrew, upon witnessing a good or bad action, act as a divine judge. The shrew will have a moment of sentience, using both its larger brain and also the entire rest of the shrew group as backup power. It will have a second of blissful transcendence above pain or pleasure (and so will be above intimidation or bribery) and know all things about the subject of its justice. It can then judge that mortal to be told one of three things: Knowledge that would bring it peace, knowledge that would bring it pain, or knowledge that it seeks. If that mortal is asleep, lying down, injured, etc near any witness shrew, that shrew is then empowered to deliver that knowledge, whispering it in their ear.   Yes- shrew knowledge, when spoken, is always heard and remembered clearly- even if unconscious, delirious, drowned out by noise, the person is deaf, etc Shrew clusters range from 8 to 80 (in really good conditions, obviously)(edited) But if they can get the food and space for larger communities, that maximum can raise   If a Grand Witness is slain, it dissolves into smaller shrew clones proportional to its body size
