Mind Magic

Mind Magic is a magic that allows to manipulate target's mind. It isn't an easy feat, since every mind has a certain level of mental resistance for such attempts, that tends to be especially tough in terms of sentient beings. This magic hexes allow to gain certain informations or coercing temporary support. It isn't easy, since the target can repel such attempt if his willpower is strong enough, or the spell will soon wither away on its own.   There are five central routes a Mind Mage can take, sometimes called Paths. It is complete possible for one to follow all of them at once, as there are simply a fancier name for a subschools. In fact, at least some of them are purely supportive, and there is little use for a magician that knows only them.   First is the Path of Control, which focuses on achieving control over other's action, and has a lot to say in terms of direct debuffs. It focuses on bringing the enemy under control (hence the name), temporarily charming him... or paralyzing, causing confusion and hallucinations. Its effects are purely temporary, however.   Second is Path of Power, which allows one to cause a lot of mental damage (potentially killing the enemies by melting their brains). The side effects might include things like temporary paralyze and confusion, similar to what Path of Control achieves, but they are merely an unexpected side effects to what can be summed up as a train derailing in one's brain.   Third is Path of Change, whose focus is modifying one's behaviour by a prolonged 'mental sculpting'. This Path is merely a supportive one, but has many uses. It's use is, however, heavily regulated due to the scale of possible abuses. If given enough time, an adept of Path of Change can change one's mind permanently and in a rather widespread manner. While stuff like erasing or locking memories, fixing damages to the brain or negating mental impairments are accepted, mindsculpting a slave to be obedient isn't.   Fourth is Path of Trickster. It focuses on illusions. It can be described as 'charging' certain part of Reality with Mind Magic powers that makes other see different things than they should by alterating their perception. It's, actually, something rather omnidirectional, as every person (unless the user specifically made it differently, which is a high level trick) will see the illusion.   Fifth one, considered an apex of the Mind Magic, is the Path of Enlightment. Rather than using magic on outside things, it focuses on slow self-improvement. Which includes both using Path of Change-like techniques to get rid of disliked perks and slowly granting oneself an ability to use Mind Magic without magic at all. Which is equal to Partial Ascendence in the eyes of the typical magicians.
