Boar People Species in Gates of Eternity | World Anvil

Boar People

The so called boar-morph is one of uncommon beastmen morph - while relatively rare when compared to most common morphs, each of them still exists in numbers big enough to actually have its own settlements or even smaller countries. Due to their generally low numbers they still rarely make up a significant part of various beastmen warhosts, rather than that forming small, dedicated units.   Boar People, due to their resilience, stamina, and rather low requirements in terms of a diet, tend to form a well disciplined spine of beastmen armies. While always lesser in numbers than Wolf People - and, in fact, inferior to them in one on one combat - they triumph in terms of discipline and almost mindless ferocity - born out from stubborness rather than bravery - that makes them hold the line regardless of everything.   They were created by the mix between old Meta-Beastmen and simple boars, through some sort of ancient rituals, now sadly forgotten. It is unknown why they were actually one of the most common morph chosen by now extinct proto-beastmen.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoid, with two hands, two legs and head. They are, however, heavily dependent in terms of their looks at how far their morph settled in. On one extreme we have almost normal humans with only some outward characteristics of the boars - like ears (they tend to be the sort of a marker of a morph), slight changes to teeth, some improvement to senses. On the other extreme, there are practically antropomorphised boars, with their humanoid posture (and intelligence) being their only major difference from common boars.

Biological Traits

Notable gender dymorphism - males are taller, bulkier and stronger.

Genetics and Reproduction

With other beastmen regardless of their subspecie. Subspecie inheritance is linked to gender. Pregnancy circa nine months long, not really different than humans (with exception of slightly increased chance for multiple pregnancies). They are also notably more resistant to most typical genetic defects, but the difference is at best a ten percent or so.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most of them lives on Lana, but there is a notable number of them living as either slaves or peasants in Karadia. Notable population of catf-morph beastmen can be encountered in northwestern Arrica and in Vestiria. Second in number are catmen population in Bharata Kanda and various less developed areas especially in Native Sea and Northern Sea.

Average Intelligence

Stubborn, easily irritable, far from brilliance but also from stupidity. Tend to rather easily resort to violence when provoked. Females seem slightly more intelligent than males, which makes most of their society a form of matriarchy, with eldest female ruling.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Rather poor sight, but great sense of smell and acute hearing. This also adds to their value as excellent heavy infantry - their sight is good enough to fight in close combat without troubles... but they can rarely see how powerful enemy truly is, so they tend to defend valiantly even in face of massively superior enemy simply because they do not know how much they are outnumbered.   On the other hand, their sight is poor in terms of discerning colours, meaning that they are surprisingly easy to ambush, especially in forests and similar environment.
