Allmaker Character in Gates of Eternity | World Anvil

Allmaker

Creator, First Reason, First Cause

Allmaker is a monotheistic Greater God and a creator of world. Not Gates of Eternity, however. He created a completely different universe, one once inhabited by ancestors of Diretians, inhabitants of Diretian Freedom, that serves as a eastern border state of Imperium of Karadia. He created this world and he led his worshippers throughout its thousand years long history.   And now he is dead, slain after his worshippers turned away from him. He sacrificed itself to let these few of them who remained loyal escape into Gates of Eternity, where they still wage perpetual war against Chaos that permanently attempts to follow Diretians and finish what it started when he killed Allmaker. There is no peace in the east, as Chaos Lords await for the slightest weakness of the Freedom to cause yet another Chaos War.

Divine Domains

Order

Holy Books & Codes

None. There is next to no known about him, with most of his theology being essentially summed up to 'fight Chaos'. Rituals dedicated to him and, in fact, pretty much everything of his ancient religion, were long forgotten by Diretians. His details were forgotten almost completely, and entire religion focuses on attempts to make him live again, and the fact that those who die without giving themselves to Chaos remain 'dead' together with him, to be reborn together with him.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

None. After all, religion of Allmaker is rather counter-Chaos than pro-Allmaker. There are no known symbols associated by Allmaker.

Personal history

Allmaker was once essentially a good side of a duotheist religion. His name was Order, and together with another, similar being, named Chaos, he created world. Order made everything good, while Chaos gave everything evil. But their cooperation was brief, and soon they began they everpresent war for the title of Allmaker, the one to rule entire Creation. This war was waged with souls of the mortals as the battleground.   This war was waged secretly. In the very same time the civilization of the world grow stronger and stronger, their technology knowing no bounds. Unaware that it was all an ancient trap of Chaos. When the believe of science in technology completely supplanted the religion, the Last War began, as forced of the Chaos under leadership of Chaos Lords spilled into reality, laying waste to once great civilization. From the other side Order armies walked in. The subsequent battle destroyed Reality.   Unfortunately, the Chaos won the war before it started. Order was weakened by centuries long decrease of religiousness. As a duotheist religion the outcome of it depended solely of the power both sides amassed before the Last War started. Chaos triumphed, slaying most of the Lords of Order, and devouring almost entire remnants of Reality.   Order understood what was going to happen... and he decided to deny it. All of his surviving forces united within him, sacrificing themselves to grant him as much power as it was possible. With it he forged the gateway that connected the remains of his world with another one. Through it his remaining worshippers fled, while their God tore his way through legions of Chaos, before engaging him in battle.   He died, but his last strike almost slew his enemy. Ever since there Chaos is existing on the verge of death, somewhere in the middle of the hell that Ancient Diret changed into, far behind the Chaos Gate.   Order is dead. But Allmaker still lives. His worshippers - those who survived fleeing into inhospitable plains of Eastern Karathia and subsequent First Chaos War - know that their God is dead. Their entire religion is based on the belief that if they manage to hold despite everything the Chaos Lords threw at them, if they manage to resist the literal hell their ancestors let loose... they will redeem themselves, Allmaker (they no longer believe in Order/Chaos dychotomy, now it's merely a single God and his archeenemy) will rise from the death together with their ancestors, and kills Chaos, so that they can once again live as they should have.

Morality & Philosophy

Order is a God of everything good. But as he is dead, the religion that worships him focuses much more on what is forbidden than what is endorsed. Most of his theology died together with almost all of his worshippers and now it is dubious what exactly his preferred morality was.
