Reverses

Reverses (sometimes known under an anachronistic term of Menorians) are one of the most widespread subspecies of Mankind, although one that has lost most of its numbers with the destructions of the Menorian Federation. Today they can still be encountered among the Captain's Assembly, in the former Menorian colonies on Telya and in some parts of the Grand Empire of Karadia, but their numbers appear to be slowly dropping in most of those places.   The history of the reverses is hard to retrace. Many suggest that they are either artificial creation (much like the high humans or lilims), just a very old one - old enough for its creation to vanish from memories, even ones backed by documents and inscriptions. Other believe that the reverses emerged naturally (or perhaps supernaturally), but with the expanding Menorian Federation converting humans that joined it (or had their tribes/protocountries conquered by it).   Reverses are barely distinguishable from baseline humans, save for the eyes and the resulting cultural and societal shift. This is made even more notable by the high humans being generally based on the reverses - they have been rendered generally superior to the baseline humans, although not to a shocking degree. Other than that, they are barely differentiated from the human baselines.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Two hands, two legs, body and head. Plus two genders. Essentially identical to standard humans in terms of the body. They are slightly stronger, tougher and healthier than the standard humans, but not to a dramatic degree.

Genetics and Reproduction

Reverses are, almost entirely, humans. As a result, their genetics and reproduction work almost identically to them. The only notable difference is the lack of 'reverse beastkin' and 'reverse halfdaemons' - both of those species are born through hereditary supernatural influence, and reverses appear to be incompatible with that. Leading to some scholars suggesting that their 'reverse' nature is actually similarly supernatural, enough to be incompatible with other such influences. When beastkin (or halfdaemons) and reverses have children, the 'reverse' side mysteriously evaporates.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Reverses' eyesight is essentially reversed. The internal build of their eyes isn't fully understood - even the scholars of the Second Era haven't fully cracked it, indicating some really old and supernatural construction. What is known is that their sclera is black (while the irises are white), and that something in their eyes essentialy reverses their perception of light. Reverses see best in low or even no light environment, while being progressively blinded the more light is surrounding them.   As a result, they are nocturnal. It also has a profound influence over their culture. The cultural concepts of light and dark, and day are night are just as reversed as their eyesight, meaning that all evil things in their culture (from mundane criminals acts to supernatural evils) are associated with the daylight (or either day/light on their own).   Their other senses are indistinguishable from human ones.
