Royal coronations

History

Coronations have been a thing in the Sun Kingdom ever since the first King and Queen of Garda. Anita and Kushim was the ones to help build up Garda but they were proclaimed it's rulers by the spirits of the Afterworld. The first official coronation however was the first joint coronation with their children, King Narmer and King Ka, as a symbolic way to show Anita and Kushim were passing on their knowledge and magic to their children so that they too can be good leaders.   Coronations have become more and more important and widely celebrated over time as the royal family grew. The tradition eventually spread to other Kingdoms as they formed. As the Moon and Sun Kingdom began to split and become more indepented kingdoms, they exchanged and formed traditions that had been at the earliest ones prior.

Execution

Stage 1-The sitting on the throne and the monarch's proclamation's. At the start of the coronation, the monarch will be lead to their throne as the highest member on the council makes statements about the monarch and asks the monarch's questions on what they'll do for their people. The monarch is then expected to drink a elixir that bounds them to tell the truth to each question.    Stage 2-The approval  Next, forgin and local royals are expected to give their approval (or disapproval) to the new monarch and states why they think they should (or shouldn't) rule, as well as members on the high council. If more members and royals show approval for the new monarch, the coronation can continue.    Stage 3- The crown is then placed on the monarch's head as everyone in the room bows to the new monarch.    Stage 4- The final stage of crowning and approval  This stage differs depending on each kingdom, in the Sun and Moon kingdom, the monarch is led into a secret and closed off room in which only the monarch is allowed to enter. The monarch then must recited a specific and long spell, summoning the spirits of their ancestors. Their ancestors then all appear and the recently deceased monarch hands over the sun or moon staff to the new monarch, symbolling their approval for the monarch and to symbolise that they're passing on their wisdom and magic to them.    In the Peace kingdom, they do something very similar, but instead of handing it to the new monarch, they carve a symbolic tattoo onto the new monarch's forehead using the flute and then give them the flute, this symbolises their approval and right to rule and that there is no disputing that they are the prober monarch, once they have that tattoo carved, there is no more arguing on their right to rule.     In the Death Kingdom, the monarch is expected to meditate for enough time needed until they gain the eye of the Afterworld, symbolises that they are powerful and wise enough to rule. If the monarch can't gain the eye's power in three days, the monarch isn't seen fit enough to rule.    Stage 5-the final stage This is the last stage of the coronation process, after the monarch returns from the room, now with their staff/tattoo/eye, they are lead onto the balcony with any other royals and show off their new divine magic to their people, while repeating the promises they told in stage 1 to their people.

Components and tools

The most important tools needed for a royal coronation are the crown, the kingdom's main magical artefact  (e.i the sun/moon staff, the death kingdom spell book, peace kingdom flute, etc), and the throne.

Participants

Only other royals, local or forgin, or any important nobles, magic users or just anyone important are allowed to personally attend the coronation. Common people celebrated outside as they waited for the monarch to come out onto the balcony and show off their magic. People like high council members and ambassadors attend to, in order to complete the coronation traditions.

Observance

The coronation of a monarch is supposed to take place a year after the death of the previous monarch, they have been expectations though, seen with Zora's case and the fact her coronation had to rushed due to the war. The coronation is observed by anyone an everyone, whenever they are a commoner waiting outside or someone attending personally.
