Kadarkanni (Kar-da-kanni)
Basic Information
Anatomy
Kadarkanni's are half human half fish and have a traditional mermaid tail. Kadarkanni's are known for their blueish complexation, almond eyes and their fish tails. They're ears are pointy like elf ears and are slightly stronger than humans. They've also got sharp pointy nails that help them cut through things like seaweed.
Biological Traits
- Despite being a magical creature of Garda they don't live as long as the other magical creates there.
- Kadarkanni's have the most normal height out of the three magical creatures.
- Female kadarkanni's are more siren looking than the male ones.
Genetics and Reproduction
Kadarkanni's reproduce through internal insemination, some Kadarkanni's who posses the ability to swap their tail for legs might go on land for reproduction.
Growth Rate & Stages
Kadarkanni's grow at around the same rate as guardians and humans do, they just have a longar lifespan.
Ecology and Habitats
Kadarkanni's inhabit the oceans just outside the Peace kingdom where it's nice and cold. They use their sharp nails to hunt fish and cut seaweed for their homes and clothing.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Kadarkanni's eat other small fish, like squims (I just made that up) and sea oysters. They hunt using their nails and homemade spears and nets.
Biological Cycle
Kadarkanni's thrive in the winter and are don't even mind going up to the surface during that time but in the summer they struggle. They don't go up to the surface in the summer and try to stay in the coldest part of the seas.

Social Structure
There's barley a social structure in Kardakanni culture. All there is, is the chief that looks after all the Kardakanni's and keeps their little underwater villages in check and that's it.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Some people used to hunt Kardakanni's for their scales which are believed to be luckily...they are not. However many people believed that for a long time and hunted down Kardakanni's. This lead to major hostilely between guardians and kardakanni's and the population of kardakanni's to go down drastically. Luckily the kardakanni population is slowly building back up over the years.

Kardakanni's can sometimes have scales on their faces. Kardakanni's teeth are slightly sharper than guardians and humans and can spread their mouths in usual lengths and flash their sharp teeth to scare people or pray.

Kardakanni's are slightly more intelligent due to their ancient magic knowledge, however it's only in that and in other subjects they are just as average as humans.

Kadarkanni's females use anything they find in the sea as makeup. Females often use gems like pearls for jewellery.
Male kadarkanni's want to be seen as very manly and strong and so male kadarkanni's train at a young age so that they can get stronger.

Female Kadarkanni's are often seen as lesser than. Male kadarkanni's are always seen as the main breadwinners and are expected to be seen as warriors. Female kadarkanni's mostly stay home and look after the kids. Surprisingly they do get the same magic training as male's as ever since kadarkanni's started to get hunted they needed more people being able to fight and that included women.
Relationship Ideals
When a couple wants to get married, they both give each other a betrothal necklace and they wear that until they get married (or they can continue to wear it if they want)n During the weeding ceremony, they wear seaweed chains. They don't have overly large ceremony's and they celebrate their afterparties with dancing and food.

Common Etiquette Rules
Kadarkanni's believe heavily in respecting their elders. When a kadarkanni is greeting a elder or the chief they bow their head slightly.
Common Dress Code
Kadarkanni's don't wear normal clothes because of their tails. however female kadarkanni's usually cover their chest with seaweed, shells or like I said early, their scales if they can. Sometimes males use seaweed to create shirt like clothes but that's really all.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Many traditions Kadarkanni's have are such:
- Telling stories of the past- Kadarkanni's love to pass down stories of their past ancestors and stories of the spirits.
- Dancing- Since they can't dance with their feet (since they don't have any), they dance through elegant movements using their hands and upper body. They also love creating and playing music.
- Kadarkanni's love to celebrate the mythical festival with the other mythical creatures of Garda, such as werewolves and whisperers. They come up to the surface and join in with the fun.
- Kadarkanni's also celebrate 'water spirit day' where they give offerings such as gifts and food to the water spirit
History
Kardakanni's were one of the original inhabitants of Garda before Anita and Kushim. They were originally an accidental hybrid created by a water spirit. However they weren't discovered until the first king of the Peace Kingdom, King Nalligik, founded the Peace Kingdom. He made a truce with the Kardakanni's and promised them he would protect them from hunters during his rule.

Kadarkanni's are from the seas surrounding the Peace Kingdom but take inspiration from Filipino mermaids and sirens.

Conservation Status
Kadarkanni's swim deep under the Peace Kingdom sea's so that no one will bother them, another reason they do that is because they don't do well in hot climates and the deeper they go down, the colder it is.
Kadarkanni's were hunted for a short time for their scales as there believed to be lucky and can used in healing. This hunting stopped however one kadarkanni's starting attacking anyone who got near them in fear they were hunting them. Hunting's slowly stopped but people have resorted to trying other ways to get a kadarkanni scale.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Karakanni's are a blueish sort of colour. Aqua colour, dark blue, turquoise, cerulean and have can have tiny scales all around their body. Sometimes for women their scales can cover their chest and act as modesty.
