Ganyrfon
The world of Ganyrfon bears many similarities to the Europe of our world in the early Renaissance.
Firearms and cannon are making themselves known on the battlefield, but they do not dominate it yet.
Existing kingdoms seek to expand their holdings by absorbing their smaller neighbors, or at the expense of rivals they perceive as weak. New kingdoms are coalescing out of independent duchies and principalities.
Religion is central to everyday life, and the church leadership exerts influence over even the most powerful kings and queens. However, corruption stems from such expansive power. The rot eating at the heart of the spiritual leadership is becoming evident and impossible to ignore.
Nobles struggle to afford their lifestyle while the gentry and even some commoners increase their wealth.
And yet, there are differences. Human kingdoms must deal with the pressure of nonhuman regimes, friendly and antagonistic. Incursions of demons and magical monstrosities are not unknown. The Fey are capricious, inexplicable, and powerful. Magic, powerful and subtle, tumbles fortifications and subverts loyalties.
