Galiyon

The world of Galiyon descended into war and savagery following the cataclysm known as the War of Gods around 200 years ago, which set the world aflame leaving mighty empires, powerful nations and fledgling alliances alike in ruins. As shadow crept over the land in the turmoil that followed powerful rulers seized their opportunity to expand and crush weaker nations before they could muster their defences. These glorified slavers continue to rule over most of the Northern lands to this day from behind an enchanted wall of pure obsidian that stretches for hundreds of miles along their borders. Tales of torture, blood sports and worse have begun to circulate around the world from escaped slaves and traders who dare brave the icy tundra of the Northern Reaches.   The magic of the eight Gods remains present in the world though none have heard from them in generations. There are even some who begin to whisper that they have abandoned the world to its fate with cults and religions rising to proclaim theirs as the true way to bring back their chosen God.   However there are still pockets of light amidst the darkness, areas where civilised peoples work together to build and prosper rather than destroy and subjugate. In the lands of Ascodel, Terimarr, Vas and Cymeria the people are free to study, practice magic and do their best to make their way in the world as they see fit. The governments of these lands vary greatly between elected democracies, monarchies, magocracies and more but they are unified in their fight to preserve freedom and the remaining light in the world at all costs.

Adventurers from these lands often seek out the forgotten places of the world as explorers and treasure hunters, whilst others make it their mission to oppose the forces of evil wherever they find them. On rare occasions even those who have escaped the slave pits of the North find the strength and courage to forge themselves anew and venture out into the world to seek fortune, fame or retribution.

Galiyon may shrouded in darkness but there are those that still fight, hoping one day the Gods will return to cast out the evil and bring about a new age of prosperity for all!
