About the end of the war...   "The Galactic Nations is an ambitious ideal, to unite all the races of the galaxy. Surely, there is no cost too great for what will eventually be galactic peace. At least, that's what we told ourselves. Many, such as I, still tell ourselves. I, and those who stand with me, see the Binary Star Treaty as an embarrassment. How long is it until the 'Alliance' wants to give a little more slack on the leash of its attack dogs? When will they address the war crimes they commited? Even now, the Red Virus still drives some of our most valiant Drexel heroes to violent madness. Who will answer for that? The council may talk of peace, but this treaty only enables more violence."  

  "I think it's about damn time. We've spent all this time and effort, all this attention, on people who didn't really want to fight. Along the way, we missed the people that do. I think there's some real problems in the galaxy, in the portions of the galaxy we claim to be responsible for, and we have to clean up our room before we go telling the others what to do. There's the pirates, of course, although it's also time we stop calling them that, but I've also heard rumors about a flesh cult. We have a cult. I think every single one of us knows that some things have been done that no galactic-wide union should be founded upon. Unfortunately, that's all that I'm at liberty to say."
