Grinya
The Grey Lady, Our Lady
Grinya is the goddess of lawful death and change, and is the entity which guides departed souls to their resting place on one of the outer planes.
Lawful Death
The concept of a 'lawful' or 'good' death refers to one in which the soul of the deceased can be freely collected by Grinya and taken to its rightful resting place. Failure to do so leaves the soul vulnerable to attack from fiends or adrift on the material plane as a ghost, spectre or similar undead. Normally, funerary rites are therefore performed before or after death to invite Grinya in to prevent this. In situations where this is not possible however, individuals offer prayers to the goddess to safeguard their souls as best they can.Appearance
Grinya generally maintains a consistent appearance, although as with all deities, she is able to alter this at will. She commonly appears as a humanoid woman of indeterminate age, often taking on the race of the mortal viewing her. Clad in heavy grey robes and a hood, she carries a large leather tome, in which all the deeds of mortals are recorded. Hung from her staff is a lantern to light the way for those that would follow her freely to their destination, and hung from her belt are chains for those that would not.Divine Domains

Divine Symbols & Sigils
A lantern within a ring of flowers. Circles are considered holy and are often interpreted as signs from Grinya.
Grinya's colour is grey.
Tenets of Faith
Death and change are not to be feared. When something dies, it is considered to have been moved by Grinya to the next stage of its journey.
Grinya is seen almost as a"gatekeeper" figure; she does not decide on the destination (souls mostly go to the plane of their alignment or deity), she facilitates and watches over the journey.
