The Cataclysm

The Cataclysm, as it came to be known, was a disaster of unprecedented proportions. It not only destroyed a large portion of the necros' home continent, but it also had devastating effects on the rest of the world. Earthquakes and tsunamis wreaked havoc on coastal cities, and ash and debris from the explosion filled the skies, blocking out the sun and causing widespread famine.   Despite the destruction caused by the Cataclysm, it ultimately proved to be the only way to stop the necros from achieving their goal of becoming immortal beings. The remaining necros, realizing the futility of their cause, retreated into the wastelands of their shattered continent, where they spent the next few centuries rebuilding their society and plotting their revenge.   The other nations of the world, meanwhile, struggled to recover from the Cataclysm. The Empire and its allies formed the League of Nations, a loose alliance designed to prevent future conflicts and promote cooperation among the different races. Over time, the League grew stronger, and while there were still occasional skirmishes and border disputes, the world was generally at peace.   However, the memory of the Necros and the Cataclysm still loomed large in the minds of the people, and many feared that one day the Necros would return, seeking vengeance for their defeat. Despite their best efforts, the nations of the world could never completely rid themselves of the fear that the Necros would one day rise again, and the memory of the Cataclysm would forever be a reminder of the dangers of unchecked power.     The destruction of the Necros continent was a catastrophic event that changed the face of the world forever. When the Arkane Ray was unleashed, all of the major cities on the continent were instantly destroyed, leaving nothing but ruins in their wake.   In the aftermath of the destruction, magical anomalies began to occur all over the continent, making it difficult for anyone to use magic reliably. The air on the continent became unstable and slightly poisonous to many species, making it a hostile environment for anyone who wasn't a Necro.   The once-powerful Necro civilization was left in disarray, with only loose organizations remaining. Even the mighty Dsemarion, the Dragon of Nightmares, was heavily wounded and has never fully recovered.   Today, the Necros continent is a desolate wasteland, filled with ruins and magical anomalies. It is a reminder of the terrible power of the Arkane Ray, and a warning of what can happen when civilizations become too powerful.
