The Sun Emirate

"We are blessed by the Sun itself. We fight in the light, and the shade of death falls upon our enemies."   The Emirate holds dominion of the continent of Sundra, and is the oldest of the three big worldpowers. Where their agression and expanion was the direct influence that led to the formation of the Free Cities Alliance, or the inspiration for the old king of the Azurite Cohort to proclaim himself Emperor and seek to expand his borders across Veitniir, the Emirates footprint on history is undeniable.   Known for being a spiritual center of the world and being the many gates to nexus hidden within its deserts, this ancient empire has existed for well over 600 years, and had many rulers come and gone.

Structure

The leading figure is the Emir, who is supreme ruler and who have direct control over both military and civilian matters. Beneath the Emir is the Council of the Sun, consisting of various religious, military and civilian leaders. Each of these have two subordinates refereed to as their Right and Left hand and act as their bodyguards as well as personal envoys out in the world.

History

The Emirate was not always as powerful and certainly not always a Emirate. For the longest while, Sundra was a chaotic war torn continent with various Sultanates and similar styled rulers fought and vied for control over one another while the Miqo'te Sun Seekers would live nomadic lives hunting big game in the dessert or raid caravans. It wasn't until a sultan named Timir bagan to make moves, largely under the influence and tactical advice of his Vizir, a Lalafel by the name of Kokiko Nikoko. Timir befriended the Miqo'te tribes, offering them a place within his his future empire. Providing them them with safehavens to rest and settle within, chiefly along the oasis town of Aleaqiq. Timir would find his new allies were just what he needed to tip the balance, and over the years his grip on the region grew ever more absolute and he set his eyes on the rest of the continent.   Tamirs expansionist dreams was not to be easily thwarted, and bit by bit Tamir took over the entirety of Sundra. But he was a conqueror, not a regent. He did not care to shore up his weaknesses at home, along as he proved his might elsewhere, the people would fear and revere him and the riches he brought back would appease his backers. This worked well enough. Until the [url=]Siege of Androna which dragged on over two years. The war coffers had allready been stretched to its limits by previous wars and the several of Tamirs promises to the Miqo'te had yet to be fully realized.   Kokiko Nikoko sensed this unrest, and she had a plan. A plan that would mean the end of Tamirs reign and stability to the region, albeit at a heavy price. She contacted each of the Sultans generals and high priests under the pretense of discussing how to help break the siege. By the end of it, she had most of the generals agreeing with her that the war was costing them to much and many of the priests felt the agression was against the ways of their people. So with their backing, Kokiko sent her Sultan a ultimatum while her people secured the palace in what was a rather bloodless coup. The ultimatum was very clear, either the Sultan abdicate and accept exile. Or he would be faced with a civil war that he could not win.   He wisely accepted.
