Moondeer are adorned with giant antlers that glow of a bright blue in the dark. The purpose of their glowing antlers is to give the deer a more threatening appearance as well as a way to attract mates. Moondeer are very shy of anyone not from the forest and tend to stay alert at all times in order to avoid becoming prey. The moondeer are very worshipped amongst the Dyyr and Nat’Yri believers, who believe them to be like the eyes and ears of the mother, created to watch over the forests. Because of this, followers of Nat'Yri avoid hunting them. A moondeer is a creature of both night- and day-time, taking only short naps here and there in order to rest. It spends its time exploring the forests and looking for sourberries to snack on.
