Future of the Earth (The Reaperverse)

Let's be honest, when you saw what this world actually was being referred to as, you knew it was going to be a terrible place to live. So, what can I say that hasn't been used in a thousand stories before this one? Not a lot but I'm still going to try and make a story/world that has some good ideas inside of it. So, let me ask you a question. Are you a fan of Greek mythology? It doesn't really matter what your answer is because after you have read about this world, you'll have such an understanding of the mythology, you could probably rewrite Homer's Iliad. Basically, the Government is known as Thanatos and they control who lives, who dies (As the Greek God Thanatos would take people to the underworld) and they have a group of selected people working for them called Reapers (As Thanatos was sort of considered as a grim reaper of sorts) There's some other stuff like other groups/species and divisions in the Reapers as well but we'll get into that some other time. So you're probably thinking 'what is so special about Greek mythology to this random person?' Well, I'll tell you. I'm very gay. Just kidding (Although I am gay) but Greek mythology is special to me because not only was the first book series that I actually enjoyed and understood was about Greek mythology (Cough cough Percy Jackson cough) but the myths always stuck with me ever since I learnt about Pandora's box when I was around 4-6 years old and just starting school (Let me tell you, that is a terrifying story to tell to a child who was already scared of everything). In fact, it's so special to me that this year (2021) for Christmas, I got a large book all about it. But enough about me, let's get on with talking about the world. What can I really say? Things and media from the past have been banned/outlawed. The Government have full control. People live in constant fear and an uprising is just waiting to happen. If I would use something to describe the entire history and plots of the world, I would have to say all of Hozier's songs. Every single one, even the EDM track he did, that is what the world is at the moment. And now that you understand that, you have to think. Is this a new fictional world or am I talking about the state our world is in right now? Thank you for coming to my Tedtalk.
