age ceremony (British Europa)

To mark and celebrate the change childhood to adulthood, the age ceremony will commence. First authorization is needed from an administrative officer, proof has to be given that a child has either graduate or is highly likely to graduate that year. The parents are given the handgun of the kid's choice and officially relieve custody of the child. Parent's usually plan the ceremony in which they gift the gun to their son or daughter symbolically showing that they are entrusting them with the burden of upholding society and are now an adult. The handgun is the sidearm that citizen will carry for life, unless it breaks in which case it would be replace or if it is revoked. It can be revoked if the citizen does not actually graduate meaning that they are still a cadet which it will be given back when they do graduate. It can also be revoked if it is deemed unsafe for the user to carry it. To become the rank of spacer, a cadet must both graduate and undergo the age ceremony.
