The Solar Knights

History

Before the quarks arrived, the Solar Knights didn’t exist as a military force or under the same name, but rather as an exploratory company known as the Stellar Rangers. Back then, they focused on exploring and cataloging the Sol system in its entirety with special suits and automated spacecraft. Having been much larger then, they had many facilities and even a handful of private space elevators, though after the quarks arrived only the tower that is now the Solar Knights headquarters remained standing and functional. By the time that the Shelters were being built, over ninety percent of their facilities were destroyed and eighty-seven percent of all personnel dead. Justly enraged by this, the head of the company ordered for them to pull out their units that they were trying to fight back with and had them begin undergoing the beginnings of becoming what would later become the Solar Knights issue Vanguards. Requesting that the WDF built a Shelter around the only major facility they had left, a storage and shuttle relay tower, that they had begun to fortify. This would later become Shelter 3, which would be then protected by the Stellar Rangers with what they had left for equipment. It would be another seven weeks later that the Stellar Rangers would denounce their original purpose and identity, now reborn into the Solar Knights. Swearing themselves to an oath of protecting humanity, whether this was out of a fire born from hatred towards the quarks that stole the homes of those who survived, or genuine loyalty to the human race is unknown.
