Ravan Kahl

Ravan Kahl is a martial art developed for military use by its founders Altur Cher and Lino Rost in the year 97 Kelzyn. The style focuses on aggressive movement, teamwork and improvised weaponry, backed up by a core of unarmed strikes. The development of the style was a result of the creation of the Ortashver, as military command required a practical and resource efficient martial art for the newly created army.

History:

The roots of Ravan Kahl are two fold, the first branch is the long history of competing martial arts developed in the worlds of Anlath and Cesto. Much of the footwork is based on the doctrines followed in Merdako, practiced in the eastern parts of Anlath. While the striking bears the foundations of Nerekkel's distinct style of all out offense.

The second branch is the millennia of military history and doctrine developed among Tessynian commanders. Understanding of the realities and practicalities of war shaped the nascent martial art, giving it purpose and direction. Ultimately this led to the martial art being as streamlined and simple as it is today.

Practice:

In usage Ravan Kahl has a focus on fast strikes to vital areas, mainly the jugular. Improvised weaponry and usage of the environment is a large part of practical application, as is teamwork. In real warzone scenarios it is rare to truly be the only one in a given area, as such cooperation with others from your side is necessary to bring down powerful foes. Emphasis of Ravan Kahl is in eliminating opponents quickly by overwhelming them with improvised weapons, aggression and sheer numbers.

Philosophy:

The reality still stands, however. It is entirely unrealistic to assume that these soldiers can afford to spend the thousands of days it would take to truly learn a complete style when their efforts are needed now. It is that very limitation, that streamlined focus that the style was created with that truly makes it work. That makes it efficient, deadly. Most soldiers are unlikely to ever have to rely on it, and those that do are unlikely to survive regardless. What was created was a way to make sure that as many soldiers survive these scenarios as is realistically feasible, while retaining the numbers needed to perform combat effectively under normal circumstances.
